Children of a Lesser God

Auditions will be held by appointment only on Sunday Sept 21 and Monday Sept 22, beginning at 7 pm both evenings, at the Empire Theatre, 114 W. Broad St. Those planning to audition should sign up in advance for one night—not both.

Rehearsals will begin on or around Monday, Jan 12, 2009.

Performance dates: Feb 6 – Mar 22, 2009 at Barksdale Theatre’s Willow Lawn location.

Casting:

one deaf woman in her mid 20s who communicates in ASL (American Sign Language),
one deaf or hearing impaired woman in her late teens or early 20s who lip reads and speaks,
one deaf or hearing impaired man in his late teens or early 20s who lip reads and speaks,
two hearing women 30 to 60,
one hearing man 30 to 50.

The role of James Leeds has been cast. All other roles are open.

Actors will be asked to read from the script, either verbally or in ASL, as appropriate to their character. An interpreter and music stands will be provided.

All performers will be paid.
