Bifocals Performances
Barksdale's "Bifocals Players" produce shows starring actors age 55 and older. In addition to visiting senior citizen communities, they present two performances at Willow Lawn Barksdale on the upstairs lobby stage. All ages are welcome to attend performances. Directions to Barksdale at Willow Lawn
AUDITIONS
THE POETRY RECITAL AND FANCY HAT SOCIETY
Barksdale Bifocals Players will hold auditions for the opening show of the 2010-2011 season on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 7 and 8; time: 10am -12 noon at Barksdale Willow Lawn Theatre, upstairs lobby. Auditioners will read from the script.
Director seeks: 4 women, 55 and up, for performances beginning November 4.
Bring a photo and recent resume if possible.
Rehearsals begin mid September.
There are two daytime performances at Barksdale Willow Lawn, followed by 15 touring dates to local senior citizen communities. Most performances and all rehearsals are in the daytime. Actors receive an honorarium.

PLOT SUMMARY: It’s almost time for the annual poetry recital and fancy hat parade, and the executive committee of the Poetry Recital and Fancy Hat Society is busily planning the event. Amid differences of opinion and unexpected maladies, the four ladies have put together a splendid program of poems from years gone by, as well as some very beautiful hats. Both the differences of opinion and the maladies escalate until the whole thing verges on hilarious hostility… with a surprise ending!

Bifocals Monthly Meeting Series
When and where
Bifocals meetings are free-of-charge and open to all theatre lovers aged 55 or older. No RSVP required. They are held monthly Sept through May (excluding Dec) on the 4th Friday at 11 a.m. in the lobby of Barksdale Theatre at Willow Lawn. Directions to Willow Lawn
Lunch
Each meeting is followed by a lunch buffet of sliced turkey, ham, roast beef, cheeses, lettuce, tomato, breads, salads, sweets, coffee, tea and sodas. A free-will offering of $5 for lunch is suggested.
