Since 1953, Barksdale Theatre has been Hanover County’s proudest contribution to the cultural life of Central Virginia.  Our founders, Pete and Nancy Kilgore and Muriel McAuley, worked for 40 years to create a nonprofit professional theatre that felt like home to everyone in Hanover County, particularly students. Barksdale’s President-Elect, Kevin Kilgore, grew up with his parents in Hanover Tavern.  Today, under his leadership, Barksdale is proud to reaffirm its commitment to Hanover’s younger citizens. 

Beginning immediately, all students enrolled in Hanover’s middle and high schools, and all home or privately schooled students ages 12 to 18 living in Hanover County, can purchase their tickets to any performance at Barksdale Theatre at Hanover Tavern for only $9—the same price as a movie!

This is a $29 discount.  The program is funded by proceeds received from the annual presentation of Barksdale’s Hanover Hero Award.
